"When you open your heart and talk from a place deep within you, the usual issues that bog down a speech simply vanish.” ~Saskia Shakin Quoted from More than Words Can Say – the Making of Inspired Speakers (I loved this inspiring, insightful book and recommend it to anyone wanting to speak from that deep and authentic part of you) The emphasis: knowing that the time is right to retreat and reflect on our feelings to create a more heart-felt communication with ourselves will really move us forward in living our most authentic self… our true self. Community comes from communication and from the act of communing with oneself, as well as having the ability to communicate our own understanding of ourselves to others. Taking action in this process will catapult us to living in right relationship with ourselves and being in right relationships with others. Now is the time to clear away anything that is holding back your voice and keeping us from our true heart’s desires. The purpose is to evoke emotion. Here are a few steps adapted from my new Journaling in the Garden Workshops– a lotus love notes journaling series. 1) Give yourself the time and space to connect to your emotions wholeheartedly. 2) Breathe, breathe even deeper, deeply down into your belly then breathe some more. 3) Put your hand on your heart and connect to its beat – the rhythm. When you are ready to begin write from that space. 4) Start writing about how you are feeling in the moment, what emotions are arising, what feelings are bubbling up that haven’t had a chance to be acknowledged. 5) Write about things like: what do you feel you need right now to make you feel romantic, what are the lovable things about you, what are the quirky things about you, what are the parts of you that need to be loved. 6) Write love letters to and from your emotional heart to initiate and establish your true romance. Remember this is a romance, so bring in the flair, fun and mystery, while speaking with honesty and integrity. The most important part is that you are honest, loving and truthful to yourself. Your relationship and communication with yourself, whether in spoken, written or in thought form is the reality that is created around you and in all parts of your life. That communication should always come from the heart, unconditionally. Remember the Immortal Beloved Letters, write them with the same passion, love and depth for your self...
